Stats Office: Slovakia's GDP in 2Q19 Rose by 1.9 percent Y-o-Y

Bratislava, August 14 (TASR) - Gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 1.9 percent year-on-year in fixed prices in the second quarter of 2019, according to a preliminary estimate released by the Statistics Office on Wednesday. In terms of seasonally adjusted figures, GDP saw year-on-year growth of 2.5 percent and of 0.4 percent on a quarterly basis. In current prices GDP increased by 4.6 percent q-o-q to reach €23.7 billion. The Statistics Office also published data on developments in overall employment. In year-on-year terms, it increased by 1.4 percent. After seasonal adjustments, total employment increased by 1.5 percent compared to the second quarter of last year and by 0.3 percent compared to the first quarter of this year. In total, more than 2.4 million people were employed. The preliminary estimate of gross domestic product and employment will be refined based on other available statistical and administrative data.
