Kiska: Destruction of Notre Dame National Tragedy

Bratislava, April 16 (TASR) - President Andrej Kiska stated on Facebook on Tuesday that the destruction of Notre Dame Cathedral in a fire is a national tragedy that has affected not only French people but also Europe and the whole world. "It's as if millions of stories of us who could touch this sacred place died," wrote Kiska, adding that he'll send a telegram of condolences to the French president. "I believe that the French will soon convince us that the cathedral will once again stand in its full glory. I'll gladly contribute to the national collection declared by President Emmanuel Macron," he stated. President-elect Zuzana Caputova also expressed her sorrow over the fire. She stated that Slovakia stands by France and Paris. zel/df
