Bratislava, 6 November (TASR) - The police are seeking pre-trial custody for a 29-year-old man arrested following a shooting incident on Tomasikova Street in Bratislava on Tuesday (3 November), Bratislava Region Police spokesperson Martina Semetkova has informed TASR. The man has been charged with the misdemeanour of making dangerous threats. The police have already submitted a motion for him to be remanded in custody to the respective prosecutor's office. The police have released the other man, aged 26, as suspicions of his involvement in unlawful conduct haven't been confirmed. "As part of the investigation, an expert examination of the seized weapon was also conducted. The results confirmed that it's a blank-firing weapon, which doesn't meet the legal criteria for a firearm as defined under the Penal Code. Necessary procedural steps continue to be taken in the investigation of this case to clarify all the circumstances of the incident," said the police. The incident on Tomasikova Street in the Slovak capital took place on Tuesday afternoon. A man reportedly stood by an open window from which he fired shots into the inner courtyard of the building while shouting various threats. The incident on Tuesday prompted the deployment of a police negotiation team, as well as an immediate response by the Emergency Police Unit of the Bratislava Regional Police Directorate. Also involved in the operation were police from the Emergency Motorised Unit, officers from the public order divisions of local police departments and police dog-handlers. ko/df
