Taraba: We're Making No Demands from Governing Coalition, Nor Will We

Bratislava, 4 November (TASR) - The group of Independent MPs centred around Tomas Taraba will make no demands of the governing coalition; they intend to vote in favour of any sound proposal, Taraba has posted on social media, adding that he sees no reason why Parliament shouldn't proceed with its session. "We have no demands of the governing coalition, nor will we have any, and we'll vote in favour of every good piece of legislation. A minister who fulfils their obligations will have our support, while one who falters won't," emphasised Taraba. According to Taraba, there's no reason for Parliament to refrain from sitting or voting simply because a MP decides to collect signatures for a new political party. Furthermore, he thinks that at a time when diesel at petrol stations costs €2.10 per litre, Parliament's priority shouldn't be legislation concerning so-called 'cooperating defendants' or restrictions on preferential voting. Taraba is currently an Independent MP. In October, he announced the launch of a signature-gathering campaign to establish his own party, 'Taraba–Development of Slovakia'. Following Taraba's return to Parliament, MP Peter Slysko quit the Voice-SD caucus to join him. Roman Malatinec, who served as vice-chair of the extra-parliamentary Rural Party led by Tourism and Sport Minister Rudolf Huliak, has also joined the party being founded by the former environment minister. ko/df
