Bratislava, 4 November (TASR) - Leader of the extra-parliamentary Republic party and MEP Milan Uhrik has warned about migration to Slovakia, describing a halt to the mass admission of foreign nationals as his party's condition for joining any future government in a video on social media in which he criticised the government and accused it of pursuing 'a two-faced policy'.
"The Republic party will only join a government that halts the mass admission of foreign nationals to Slovakia. This will be a condition that we won't back down from, because the footage we saw recently in Bratislava was frightening indeed," he said. [Several social media channels recently published footage from a Sikh religious event, Gurmat Samagan, organised by the Slovakia Sikh Society on Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava on Sunday (1 November), also attended by Indian Ambassador to Slovakia Vishvas Sapkal - ed.note].
He also pointed to the situation in Western countries and criticised the government's actions. "We've had enough of this two-faced policy. On the one hand, Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) claims that he doesn't want Slovakia to end up like the West, while on the other, his government is bringing tens of thousands of Uzbek Muslims to Slovakia, and even today the Slovak embassy in Uzbekistan was calling for more Muslims to come to Slovakia," said Uhrik.
According to him, the Republic party doesn't want a complete ban on legal migration, but it believes that it should have limits.
"I think Slovakia needs better salaries so that people, Slovaks living abroad, will start returning home. Slovakia doesn't need mosques, nor does it need to be replaced by some Indians," added Uhrik.
