Bratislava, 24 October (TASR) - The police have charged 34-year-old E.M.D. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons] from Ireland, who on Friday (23 October) assaulted medical staff at the hospital in the Bratislava borough of Ruzinov, Bratislava region police spokesperson Michal Szeiff told TASR on Saturday, adding that the man faces charges of disorderly conduct in conjunction with causing bodily harm to a protected person.
Szeiff explained that the assault took place in the waiting area of the central admissions department. The accused physically assaulted medical staff who had told him not to lie on the seats but to go for the examination for which he had come to the hospital. As a result of the incident, one member of the medical staff suffered a fracture of the nasal bones and another sustained injuries to the upper limbs.
Upon the arrival of a police patrol at the scene, the man was detained and escorted to a police station. After the necessary procedures had been carried out, he was placed in a police detention cell. At the same time, a motion was filed for his remand in custody.
