Bratislava, 20 October (TASR) - Slovakia's economy in 2025 grew slightly faster compared with the initial annual data published in March, with GDP growth in fixed prices revised upwards to 0.9 percent from 0.8 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday.
The revised volume of GDP in 2025 in fixed prices stood at €106.4 billion, up €1.3 billion from the originally reported figure.
The revision revealed a significantly stronger economic performance in 2024, with GDP growth revised upwards from the original 1.9 percent to 2.6 percent. Growth in 2023 was also slightly revised upwards from 2.1 percent to 2.5 percent. The cumulative impact of the revision between 2018 and 2025 ranged between -0.2 and 0.7 percentage points (p.p.).
The adjustments for 2022 to 2025 were based on a routine revision of national accounts, incorporating final annual surveys of indicators used to calculate GDP. Adjustments for the earlier years (2018 to 2021) were made in response to reservations subsequently raised by Eurostat with EU member states.
The revision was also reflected in the GDP figures for individual quarters. The original figures of year-on-year (y-o-y) growth or decline in real GDP (in fixed prices) were adjusted from -0.2 p.p. to 0.7 p.p.
The adjustments in individual quarters of the revised years weren't significant. GDP figures in 2025 rose slightly in two quarters, up by 0.3 p.p. in the second quarter and by 0.1 p.p. in the fourth quarter, while the third quarter was revised downwards from 0.9 percent to 0.7 percent. The first quarter of 2025 remained unchanged.
