Court Has on File Request for Temporary Transfer of Staskov Attacker to Facility

Zilina, 19 October (TASR) - The Cadca district prosecutor's office filed on Friday (16 October) a proposal with the Zilina District Court, Cadca branch, for an injunction - the temporary placement of a minor boy, who is alleged to have carried out an attack at a school in the village of Staskov (Zilina region) at the end of September, into a care facility, spokesperson for the Regional Court in Zilina Anna Dudova Zaborska told TASR on Monday, adding that the court will rule on the application within seven days at the latest. On the morning of 29 September, a knife attack took place at the school in Staskov, claiming two lives. A 61-year-old teacher died from her injuries at the scene, and a pupil at the school died on 1 October. A 13-year-old eighth-grader is suspected of the attack. Criminal proceedings are underway in the case for the particularly serious offence of murder, part of which was completed and part of which was attempted. Five days before the attack, the police received a report of a criminal offence from the primary school. It related to another incident that had taken place there. The Internal Affairs Inspectorate (UIS) is investigating the police officers' conduct and procedures following the receipt of the report. The juvenile suspect was admitted to a psychiatric ward following the September attack. Given his age, he is not criminally responsible. am
