President: Slovakia May Become Important Player in EU Digital Transformation

Bratislava, 13 October (TASR) - Artificial intelligence (AI), data infrastructure and strategic investment were the main issues discussed at Tuesday's meeting between President Peter Pellegrini and representatives of Amazon Web Services at the Presidential Palace, the President's Office reported on Tuesday. Pellegrini said Slovakia has the potential to become an important player in Europe's digital transformation, underlining that Bratislava wants to help shape Europe's digital future. He highlighted Slovakia's advantageous geographical location in the heart of Europe and the talent of its people, which he also described as a source of prosperity. Slovakia holds the rotating presidency of the Visegrad Four (V4: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) grouping of countries this year and will chair the Three Seas Initiative in 2027. Both frameworks are intended to foster an environment that attracts innovation, strategic investment and technological partnerships. Pellegrini also sees them as an opportunity to secure concrete investment projects and to aid in the region's development. mf
