Slovak Police Monitor Security Situation, Cooperate with Foreign Partners

Bratislava, 26 September (TASR) - The Police Corps has been continuously monitoring the security situation in Slovakia and cooperating with other security forces and foreign partners in assessing potential threats, Police Corps Presidium spokesman Roman Hajek has told TASR. According to Hajek, the police take the risks associated with preparations of sabotage or arson attacks extremely seriously and are taking all necessary measures to protect the lives, health and property of people. The police also have mechanisms in place to respond adequately to any potential threats. "In light of media reports regarding possible security threats, the police stress that every relevant piece of information and published claim potentially linked to the investigation will be thoroughly examined and assessed in line with the procedures laid down by law," stated Hajek. The police is actively addressing the situation, verifying all relevant information and will take further measures to ensure the safety of people if necessary. For security and procedural reasons, the police won't disclose specific information regarding the intelligence gathered, its sources or ongoing investigations. "At this stage, they will likewise refrain from commenting on media reports regarding possible links between specific individuals and foreign intelligence services. However, all relevant information and claims that may be related to the investigation will be thoroughly examined," said Hajek. He noted that, as part of the police operation 'Drone', four people were charged with preparing an arson attack on a manufacturing plant in Haniska near Presov. The investigation is ongoing, with police continuing to gather and assess further evidence. A Bulgarian man and woman detained after an arson attack in Munich on 3 September were part of a group linked to Russia's GRU military intelligence agency that was operating from Slovakia, according to a report by German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, citing sources in the country's security services. Investigators said the same group had planned an arson attack on a Skyeton plant near Presov, that produces reconnaissance drones for Ukraine, but the plot was disrupted. ko
