PG Office: Decisions on Military Equipment Donation to Ukraine Correct

Bratislava, 24 September (TASR) - The Prosecutor General's (PG) Office has reviewed the decisions made by the police and the Bratislava Region Prosecutor's Office concerning the donation of military equipment to Ukraine, finding them correct and in accordance with the law, TASR has learnt from PG Office spokesperson Zuzana Drobova. "The resolutions issued by law enforcement authorities and the notification from the director of the PG Office's Serious Crimes Department, as published in anonymised form on the PG Office's website, provide clear and comprehensible answers to all legal and factual questions relevant to assessing the case in terms of criminal law," stated the PG Office. The legality of decisions concerning the donation of MiG-29 fighter jets, launchers of the KUB anti-aircraft missile system and a KUB radar station were reviewed by the director of the PG Office's Serious Crimes Department. These involved the police investigator's decision of 31 October 2025 to discontinue the criminal proceedings, as well as the decision of a prosecutor of the Bratislava Region Prosecutor's Office, dated 26 January 2026, rejecting a complaint against the investigator's resolution. The cases concerning the donation of MiG-29 fighter jets and the S-300 air defence system, as well as the termination of a contract with a Russian company providing fighter jet maintenance, were closed by discontinuing the criminal proceedings or rejecting the criminal complaint. At the beginning of 2026, the Defence Ministry stated that it would request a review of the decisions. The Regional Prosecutor's Office stood by the conclusions it had presented. jrg/mcs
