MFA: Osusky Summer Diplomacy School to Feature Lectures and Practical Exercises

Bratislava, 14 September (TASR) - In a changing international environment, Slovakia needs experts who understand the new geopolitical challenges and are able to promote Slovakia's interests across the public administration, Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) stated at the opening of the sixth year of the Stefan Osusky Summer School of Diplomacy. Over the course of five days, nearly 40 participants from central government bodies will explore the theme 'Slovakia and the New World Order', focusing on current issues in foreign policy, security, the European Union and multilateral relations. "Diplomacy today takes place in an increasingly complex international environment. That's why we need people who not only understand foreign policy but are also able to respond in practice to security, technological and geopolitical challenges," emphasised Slovakia's chief diplomat, pointing out that it is precisely the Stefan Osusky Summer School of Diplomacy that creates a space for sharing experience, expertise and practical skills across the civil service. According to him, it is also a tool for strengthening inter-ministerial cooperation in the field of international relations. "Foreign policy is not solely the responsibility of our ministry. We promote Slovakia's interests equally in the economy, defence, agriculture, energy and other sectors. This makes it all the more important that we should proceed in a coordinated manner abroad and that the various ministries are aware of each other's priorities and know how to work together to push them through," stressed Blanar. am
