Government Due to Discuss 'Vision Slovakia 2040' and Last Year's Green Reports

Bratislava, 9 September (TASR) - The government is scheduled to discuss at its meeting on Wednesday, the strategic document 'Vision Slovakia 2040', which sets out scenarios for the possible development of Slovak society up to 2040 with a view to achieving lasting and sustainable growth in the quality of life in Slovakia. The document has been submitted to the cabinet session by Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD). 'Vision Slovakia 2040', produced by the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV), aims to provide a holistic view of the projected development of Slovak society up to 2040 and to formulate the basis for drawing up a more-detailed document called Development Strategy of Slovakia up to 2040. The vision was developed through the collaboration of more than 350 experts, a series of round-table discussions and regional workshops, and the incorporation of more than 2,300 comments. The Government Council for Regional Development and the Use of EU Funds is intended to help coordinate policies financed by EU funds. It will replace the Government Council for Regional Development and EU Cohesion Policy and will also gain new members, according to the draft statute of the council, drawn up by the Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Ministry, which ministers are also due to discuss on Wednesday. The cabinet is also scheduled to decide on the setting up of a new advisory and coordinating body: the Government Council for the Prevention and Eradication of Homelessness and Housing Crisis. The government is also set to consider two so-called 'green reports' for last year, drawn up by the Agriculture Ministry. The Health Ministry has prepared a proposal for additional funding for detention centres in Slovakia for 2027-2029, which ministers are also due to discuss on Wednesday. am
