Drucker: New School Facilities Open in Jarovnice, Ending Two-shift System

Jarovnice, 6 September (TASR) - New facilities for the St. Faustina Church Primary School with Nursery School were opened in Jarovnice (Presov region) on Thursday (3 September) in the presence of Education Minister Tomas Drucker (Voice-SD). The 26 classrooms provide 696 places, creating conditions enabling the end of the two-shift school system in the municipality. The new facilities were developed in cooperation with the Education Ministry, the municipality of Jarovnice and the Archdiocese of Kosice. "For me, the most important thing today is that children in Jarovnice will no longer have to attend school in two shifts. We could have looked for reasons why the problem could not be solved. Instead, we looked for a way to make it happen, because every child should have a chance to receive a good education, and they should have that chance now, not in a year or two," Drucker said. The municipality's original project to eliminate the two-shift system was supported by Slovakia's Recovery and Resilience Plan. During an inspection of the public procurement process, however, the ministry identified a conflict of interest, which was subsequently confirmed by the Public Procurement Office.
