Political Scientist: SNS Has Stronger Position in Taraba-Danko Dispute

Bratislava, 6 September (TASR) - In the dispute between Environment Minister Tomas Taraba (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) and leader of the junior coalition SNS party Andrej Danko, it is SNS that holds the stronger position, political scientist at the Alexander Dubcek University of Trencin Miroslav Radek told TASR on Sunday, adding that Taraba doesn't have enough political clout to ensure he remains in office. "So I think that he's likely to be replaced within the course of this month or next. The only question is which of the nominees, or rather the current state secretaries at the Environment Ministry, it will be," said Radek. According to him, upon returning to his parliamentary seat, Taraba will be a loyal MP of the governing coalition, with the exception of SNS proposals. "Or, to be more precise, proposals from the Slovak National Party wouldn't be supported by the coalition majority as it currently stands,” said the political scientist, adding that the coalition will therefore not break up over this dispute. am
