Bratislava, 4 September (TASR) - Slovakia Travel, the national organisation for the promotion of tourism, held talks in Bratislava on Friday with the organisers of the Expo 2030 world exhibition in Riyadh, reported the organisation, adding that the Slovak side was represented by Slovakia Travel director general Matej Fekete, and Slovakia's commissioner general for Expo 2027 Belgrade Lukas Parizek.
"The Slovak Republic's participation in the Expo 2030 Riyadh world exhibition is a topic that needs to be discussed today. Such a significant international event is not merely a matter of presenting the country for a few months, but above all an opportunity to build long-term economic, commercial, scientific, technological and political relations," said Parizek.
That's precisely why he considers it to be important to begin open discussions with the Saudi side at this stage about what our country has to offer in Riyadh. "We want to draw on the experience and partnerships we're gaining while preparing for Expo 2027 in Belgrade when considering the next major international forum, which will be Expo 2030 Riyadh," added Parizek.
The organisers of the exhibition in the Saudi Arabian capital are currently visiting selected countries and actively approaching them with an offer to present themselves at the world exhibition. "The significance of the event is also evidenced by the interest of the international community - at this stage, more than 130 countries from around the world have already registered for Expo 2030 Riyadh," said Mulham Albakree, chief officer for key partner relations, speaking on behalf of the exhibition organisers at Slovakia Travel.
The World Expo in Riyadh will take place between 1 October 2030 and 31 March 2031 in the northern part of the city. The Expo site will cover approximately 6 million square metres, and the organisers expect around 42 million visitors.
