Stats: Consumer Mood in Slovakia Almost Unchanged in July 2026

dnes 11:14
Bratislava, August 20 (TASR) - Consumer sentiment in Slovakia showed no significant month-on-month (m-o-m) change in July 2026, although households tended to be more pessimistic about the development of their finances, both in terms of savings and their overall financial situation, the Statistics Office reported on Thursday. A more pronounced decline was prevented mainly by more positive assessments of expected unemployment trends and, to a lesser extent, the future economic situation as a whole. The mood among Slovak consumers changed only marginally in July when compared to the previous month. The consumer confidence indicator (seasonally adjusted) stood at -27.4 points, which was just a slight deterioration of 0.1 points when compared to June. In yearly terms, the decline was more significant, amounting to 3.3 points. The figure was 7.5 points below the long-term average. According to European Commission data, Slovakia's consumer mood figure of -21.7 points (seasonally adjusted) was 6.6 points below the EU average. ko/df
