Stats: Revenues of Accommodation Providers Up 11 percent to €183 million in 2Q26

Bratislava, 18 August (TASR) - Tourist accommodation providers in Slovakia posted revenues totalling more than €183 million (ex-VAT) for the second quarter of 2026, up by almost €18 million (or 11 percent) year-on-year (y-o-y), with revenues rising steadily in individual quarters, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday, adding that in nominal terms, this was the highest second-quarter value since 2021, when the current methodology (revenues reported without VAT) was applied for the first time.
Domestic clientele accounted for 60 percent of total revenues, i.e. almost €110 million, while revenues from foreign guests came to almost €74 million.
The highest revenues were generated by accommodation providers in Bratislava region (€44 million) and in Zilina and Presov regions (both above €30 million), which accounted for almost two thirds of total accommodation revenues in Slovakia.
Conversely, accommodation revenues in Nitra, Trencin and Kosice regions didn't exceed €14 million in the second quarter. Revenues grew year-on-year in seven of Slovakia's eight regions, with the biggest increases reported by Trencin (up 16 percent) and Kosice (up 15 percent). Trnava was the only region to post a y-o-y decline.
Domestic clientele generated the vast majority of sales in almost all regions, with only Bratislava region recording a majority (a more than 71-percent share) of revenues from foreigners.
In the second quarter of this year, accommodation services in Slovakia were provided by 6,178 facilities, up by 633 (or 11 percent) when compared to 2025. A total of 80,000 rooms (up 4 percent y-o-y) and 235,000 beds including camping spots (up 5 percent y-o-y) were available to visitors.
The net occupation rate of permanent beds was 25.6 percent, while the figure was 29.6 percent in the case of rooms. Nearly 74,000 rooms per day with 174,000 permanent beds were available on average during the second quarter of 2026, up by almost 6 percent y-o-y in both cases.
