NKU Launches EU Funds Map, Showing Where EU Projects Have Been Implemented

Bratislava, 14 August (TASR) - The Supreme Audit Authority (NKU) has expanded its web application with a unique map of EU-funded projects displayed according to where they've been implemented, providing an overview of local self-government finances, the use of European funding and quality of life in individual regions, NKU announced on Friday. According to NKU spokesperson Daniela Bolech Dobakova, the aim is to bring impartial auditing closer to the general public and to encourage people to take more interest in public administration. "The new map of EU-funded projects shows where projects have been implemented and where they've delivered concrete results. These data allow the public to make informed decisions and actively participate in the life of their municipality or region," stated Bolech Dobakova. The web application maps more than 40,000 projects from two programme periods (2007-2013 and 2014-2020). Its main benefit is that projects are displayed according to the location in which they were actually implemented, rather than the registered office of the recipient. By linking several databases, the application gives the public an accurate overview of where European funding has actually gone and what impact it's had on individual regions. The highest number of projects is recorded in Kosice region — 2,030. Among cities, Presov has the highest number, with 647. mf/df
