Stats: Revenues in Industry Up 1.3 percent Y-o-Y in June 2026

Bratislava, 12 August (TASR) - Revenues in industry, the key sector of the economy, rose by 1.3 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in June 2026 in fixed prices when adjusted for inflation, with a moderate growth being reported for the first time this year, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday, adding that seven of the 16 monitored industrial branches saw y-o-y increases in revenues. The most significant impact came from y-o-y drops in revenues in the production of machinery and equipment (18.7 percent), the manufacture of means of transport (2.9 percent), the production of foodstuffs (9.6 percent) and the production of chemicals (22.1 percent). The more significant growth in revenues was hampered by a decline in sales in the production of computer products, the production of wooden products, as well as in other manufacturing. For the first time this year, electricity and gas supplies posted a drop in revenues as well. Furthermore, revenues in the information and communications sector rose by 12.8 percent y-o-y in June, while those in transport and warehousing, as well as in selected market services posted growth of more than 7 percent. Conversely, revenues in the construction sector fell by 0.6 percent, the first time since the beginning of the year. In monthly terms, revenues (seasonally adjusted) grew only in two of the five sectors monitored, in particular in selected market services (4.8 percent) and in the in the information and communications sector (1 percent). Conversely, revenues in industry declined by 2.8 percent, while those in transport and in the construction sector fell by 0.2 percent (each). In the first half of 2026, revenues for own goods and services posted y-o-y increases in four of the five monitored sectors, with information and communications being the only sector to report double-digit growth in revenues, at 10.8 percent. Revenues in transport including warehousing went up by 4.9 percent, while those in the construction sector rose by 4.5 percent and in selected market services by 3.6 percent.
