Bratislava, 11 August (TASR) - Slovakia's construction output amounted to €788 million in June 2026, up 1 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in fixed prices, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday, adding that this was the slowest rate of growth seen so far this year and the lowest June increase in the past 14 years. Nominal value of construction outputs kept above €700 million for the fourth consecutive month and was the highest so far this year. Seasonally adjusted, construction output fell by 4.6 percent from May 2026. The June growth was driven by a 2.8-percent increase in the dominant domestic new construction. Its nominal value reached €494 million, which is all time high recorded for this component in June. Another component, repairs and maintenance construction work, meanwhile, posted a nominal value of €170 million. This was a drop of 66 percent, but still the second best June figure seen since 2013. Concerning the type of construction, the dominant construction of buildings increased by 2.7 percent y-o-y. Conversely, work on civil-engineering structures (including highways and railway network) dropped by 1.9 percent y-o-y in real terms. The output of Slovak construction firms abroad remained almost unchanged at €94 million. In the first half of 2026, construction output reached €4 billion, up 9.2 percent y-o-y. This result can be ascribed to a 12.7-percent increase in the dominant domestic new construction, while repairs and maintenance construction work went up by 6.4 percent. By type of construction, construction of buildings increased by 13 percent, while work on civil-engineering structures (including highways and railway network) rose by 6.8 percent. Construction work carried out by Slovak firms abroad was some 4 percent below last year's level. ko
