Defence Ministry to Organise International Air Show in Piestany

Bratislava, 10 August (TASR) - The Defence Ministry will organise the International Aviation Days event in Piestany (Trnava region) on the same weekend in September on which the cancelled SIAF International Aviation Days 2026 were due to be held in Kosice (on 5 and 6 September), TASR has learnt from the Defence Ministry's press department. Originally, the air show was scheduled to take place at Kosice airport in September. However, the organisers announced in April that the airport had withdrawn its approval to host the event due to security concerns. Last September, Kosice airport hosted the Aviation Days of Kosice Region 2025 co-organised by Kosice region authority. Based on this successful cooperation, Kosice airport on 30 October 2025 granted written consent for organising the SIAF International Aviation Days 2026 on 5-6 September 2026. The organising team has been working intensively on preparing the event since the autumn of 2025. The day before the air show, a conference titled 'Aviation of the Slovak Republic, Kosice 2026' was supposed to take place in Kosice, organised in cooperation with the Faculty of Aviation of the Technical University of Kosice (TUKE). ko/df
