Simkovicova: Dolna Krupa Manor House Renovation Work to Continue with Roof

Dolna Krupa, 10 August (TASR) - The reconstruction of the manor house in Dolna Krupa near Trnava will continue with the restoration of the roof, historical monuments in the gardens and utility networks, Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) told a press conference on Monday, adding that the total eligible expenditures for the project co-financed from the Slovakia Programme stand at nearly €2.6 million. "Using these funds, we'll reconstruct the roof and roof supports, and we'll restore historical monuments in the gardens. We'll modernise the technical infrastructure and improve - as is typical for such projects - step-free access within the entire site to make it accessible to all visitors who come here," she stressed, adding that the work should be completed in the autumn of next year. "The manor house won't be closed to the public; there will only be some partial restrictions," added Simkovicova. The construction work, costing €2.39 million including VAT, will be carried out by a contractor called BM-MONT. Slovak National Museum (SNM) general director Vieroslava Bernatova added that the historical gatehouse, the Ludwig van Beethoven monument, the historical wrought-iron gate, fence and stone elements will also undergo restoration. SNM Music Museum deputy director Erika Petrikova pointed out that the manor house has been managed by the Music Museum for more than two decades. BM-MONT managing director Martin Brisuda said that his company will have to "focus primarily on the roof support structure, as a modification carried out in the 1960s and 1970s was quite fundamental". In this regard, the contractor also cooperates with the University of Zilina. Parts of the manor house, which is viewed as one of the most prominent examples of Neoclassical architecture in Slovakia, were renovated in recent years under an Interreg cross-border cooperation project. jrg/df
