Bratislava, 7 August (TASR) - Violence motivated by racial hatred or prejudice against people of other nationalities must be nipped in the bud, President Peter Pellegrini has posted on social media in response to the recent attack on young foreigners in Nitra.
"Slovakia is still one of the safest countries in the world, and it must remain a safe place for everyone who comes here to study, work honestly or visit us as a tourist," said Pellegrini, who believes that the police will solve this crime and that the perpetrators will be punished.
The young Indians in question were reportedly attacked by a group of masked men, and one of the victims had to undergo surgery as a result of the assault. The incident took place on the night of Friday, 31 July. The incident is being dealt with by the Nitra-West police department as an offence against civil coexistence.
