Bratislava, 6 August (TASR) - Transport Minister Jozef Raz (a Smer-SD nominee) and general director of railway-infrastructure operator ZSR Miroslav Garaj signed an agreement on Thursday for a non-refundable financial contribution from the Slovakia Programme to draw up project documentation for reconstructing Bratislava's Main Station, allowing ZSR to use its own resources for the project, TASR has learnt from a video posted on social media by the transport minister, who is also running as a candidate for Bratislava mayor.
"We've just confirmed with the ZSR general director that we're really serious about the reconstruction of Bratislava's Main Station. We've signed an agreement on co-financing the project documentation," said Raz, without specifying the amount of money involved.
ZSR will thus receive funding to continue planning the station's future design. "Until now, they've had to cover this from their own resources. From now on, they'll be able to draw on EU funds for this, and they can redirect their own money to where it's needed," added the minister.
ZSR specified the amount of the non-repayable EU-funded grant for preparing documentation for the reconstruction of Bratislava's main railway station. "The amount is €2,279,000 excluding VAT," ZSR spokesperson Petra Lanikova told TASR.
