Bratislava, 27 July (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini left for an official visit to China on Sunday (26 July) evening. It's the fifth visit to be paid by a Slovak head of state to China since the founding of independent Slovakia and the first in 16 years. The aim of the visit is to reaffirm bilateral cooperation and identify new areas for its further development. The visit is taking place at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. In addition to him, Pellegrini is also scheduled to meet Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji. "The two presidents will discuss relations between the European Union and China, as well as current international issues, including efforts to find peaceful solutions to conflicts in line with international law. Talks with Chinese officials will also focus on promoting high value-added investment and the development of cooperation in the field of science and research, industry, transport, logistics, agriculture and tourism," said the President's Office. The visit will take place from 27 to 29 July. "It follows on from the strategic partnership established between the Slovak Republic and China during the Slovak premier's official visit to Beijing in 2024," added the President's Office. During his visit to China, Pellegrini will also visit major technology centres, including, for example, Baidu, which is one of the world's leading companies in the fields of artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and autonomous mobility. The programme will also involve a tour of Robot Mall, the world's first centre dedicated to the presentation and commercial use of humanoid robots. ko
