Teplicka nad Vahom, 25 July (TASR) - Kia Slovakia began manufacturing several new models at its plant near the city of Zilina in June, combining modern design with advanced technology, the carmaker's spokesman Tomas Potocek has told TASR, adding that the latest additions include the Kia EV2 with a longer range, the GT-line and Black-Line variants, the EV4 in the GT version, and the product-enhanced XCeed.
"The Kia EV2 model represents a gateway to the world of electric mobility and has been in production at Kia Slovakia since March of this year. The expanded range also includes a version with a 61.0 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery, which offers a range of up to 453 kilometres. The new GT-Line and Black-Line versions feature a more striking design and a sporty character. The expansion of the EV2 model range allows us to offer customers even greater flexibility," stated the spokesperson.
Potocek added that the Kia EV4 has been rolling off the production lines at Kia Slovakia since August 2025, and the current GT version pushes the boundaries of electric mobility towards a sporty driving experience. It's designed for drivers who prefer dynamism, agility and precision.
According to the spokesperson, the upgraded Kia XCeed features a revamped design, new technologies and improved connectivity. Its specifications include a 12.3-inch dual display, enhanced driver assistance systems and improved comfort when driving.
"The successful launch of production of these models confirms our readiness to respond to the changing needs of European customers, while strengthening our position as Kia's key manufacturing centre in Europe," added Potocek.
Kia Slovakia is Kia Corporation's only production plant in Europe. The plant was built between 2004-2006, and series production of vehicles and engines began in December 2006. Kia Slovakia employs approximately 3,700 people.
