Bratislava, 22 July (TASR) - Slovakia and Norway are keen to continue their close partnership, to develop regular political dialogue and to cooperate in the areas of security, the economy and the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism, said Foreign Ministry State Secretary Rastislav Chovanec, who on Tuesday (21 July) received Susan Eckey, Norway's Ambassador to Slovakia on the occasion of the conclusion of her diplomatic mission. This information was provided to TASR by the ministry on Wednesday. "Norway is a reliable partner for us with whom we want to continue intensifying open political dialogue and practical projects. I appreciate the fact that, during Ambassador Susan Eckey's tenure, we've succeeded in strengthening the foundations for developing our bilateral relations," said the state secretary. Chovanec and Eckey discussed opportunities for further expanding dialogue in the areas of political contacts, trade, security and defence, as well as current European issues. They also highlighted the opening of Norway's Honorary Consulate in Bratislava in March 2026, which, along with Slovakia's Honorary Consulate in Drammen, Norway, will contribute to closer ties in the business, cultural, academic and people-to-people areas, said Chovanec. "We're deepening our cooperation with the Nordic countries at the political level, not least in view of current security challenges. I believe that, on this basis, we'll continue to develop our partnership with Norway in the economic sphere, in defence and in implementing joint projects supported by EEA Grants and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism," emphasised the state secretary. am/df
