Stats: Average EU-harmonised Inflation Slows Down to 3.5 percent Y-o-Y in June

Bratislava, 17 July (TASR) - Year-on-year (y-o-y) inflation measured by the EU's Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) stood at 3.5 percent in June 2026, making it the lowest level this year, while monthly inflation amounted to 0.2 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Friday. The average annual rate of harmonised inflation for the period between July 2025 and June 2026 fell slightly to 4.1 percent compared with the period between July 2024 and June 2025. The year-over-year harmonised inflation rate in Slovakia was the same as the year-over-year inflation rate calculated using the national methodology, which was published on 15 July 2026. Concerning monthly developments, prices dropped in 3 of the 13 monitored segments (household expenditure groups), specifically, in alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 0.5 percent, in food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.7 percent, and in transportation by 2.1 percent. A monthly price increase was posted in eight sectors, ranging from 0.1 percent in clothing and footwear, housing and utilities, and information and communications, to 0.8 percent in health care. In a y-o-y comparison, prices grew in 12 of the 13 segments, with the increases ranging from 0.5 percent in clothing and footwear up to 9.7 percent in housing including energy.
