Bratislava, 5 July (TASR) - The Statistics Office processed the results of Saturday's (4 July) referendum without any complications or incidents, its chairman Martin Nemky told a news conference on Sunday, adding that the entire process of counting the results, from the first precinct record up to the national summary record, took three hours and 11 minutes.
"The whole process was carried out correctly, without complications and in full compliance with the applicable legislation. We processed the results in a reliable and independent manner, without any incidents," said Nemky. The first record, the one from the electoral precinct in the village of Dedacov in the Humenne district (Presov region), was processed in the information system at 10.07 p.m. on Saturday. The last record, from the precinct No. 35 in Trencin, was processed at 1.02 a.m. on Sunday.
The definitive results of the referendum are available on the election website of the Statistics Office, www.volbysr.sk. The State Electoral Commission on Sunday confirmed that the referendum was invalid, as only 16.13 percent of eligible voters participated in it. A turnout of more than 50 percent is required for a referendum to be valid.
