Bratislava, 30 June (TASR) - A new all-time temperature record of 41.3 °C was recorded in the village of Kamenica nad Hronom (Nitra region) on Tuesday, Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMU) spokesperson Ivan Garcar told TASR on Tuesday.
The reading was recorded at an automatic precipitation monitoring station in Kamenica nad Hronom. "The figure is still preliminary and will be verified over the coming days," Garcar said. He noted that the new record surpasses the 41.0 °C recorded on Monday, 29 June, in Turna nad Bodvou.
In recent days, Slovakia first set new records for the highest temperatures ever recorded in June. On Monday, the country's previous all-time temperature record, set in July 2007, was also broken. That earlier record of 40.3 °C had been measured in Hurbanovo.
