Kralovsky Chlmec, 26 June (TASR) - Interior spaces and patient rooms at the Hospital with Polyclinic in Kralovsky Chlmec (Kosice region) have been upgraded as part of a multi-million-euro renovation project financed through the Recovery and Resilience Plan, House Chair Richard Rasi, Health Minister Kamil Sasko (both Voice-SD) and the hospital's management announced on Friday during a ceremony to mark the official handover of the project's first stage.
"Today we are opening one part of a comprehensive renovation worth more than €5 million, financed through the Recovery and Resilience Plan, because I firmly believe that this region deserves it," said Rasi, highlighting the fact that the hospital's maternity ward has been preserved despite having faced closure.
According to Rasi, a well-equipped, modern hospital will be able to attract more doctors and healthcare staff.
Health Minister Sasko pointed out that the hospital's catchment area exceeds 60,000 people. "What's important is that this truly significant milestone has been achieved for healthcare workers, patients and the people of Kralovsky Chlmec and the surrounding area," he said.
The renovation covers patient rooms with a total of 107 inpatient beds. "Patients will benefit from much greater comfort," the hospital's Deputy Director for Medical and Preventive Care, Judita Chachalakova, told TASR.
The comprehensive renovation of the hospital's main building also includes roof renewal, thermal insulation of the facade, replacement of windows and refurbishment of interior wards on two floors, including the surgery and internal medicine departments. The work is being carried out while the hospital remains fully operational.
