HaZZ: Storms and Strong Winds Keep Slovak Firefighters Busy Across Regions

Bratislava, 22 June (TASR) - Members of the Fire and Rescue Corps (HaZZ) and volunteer fire brigades responded to numerous weather-related incidents on Sunday (21 June) as adverse weather conditions, including intense thunderstorms and strong winds, swept across parts of Slovakia, HaZZ reported on social media. The highest number of call-outs was recorded in the Bratislava Region (19) and the Banska Bystrica Region (15). Firefighters were primarily called out to remove fallen trees from roads, some of which became partially impassable, clear trees that had fallen onto passenger vehicles, pump water from flooded basements of family houses, and unblock clogged culverts. In one case, firefighters responded to an electrical installation fire in a residential building caused by a lightning strike. mf
