Bratislava, 21 June (TASR) - The Slovak University of Technology (STU) in Bratislava has been ranked among the top 1,000 universities in the world, according to the latest QS World University Rankings 2027, STU spokesperson Juraj Rybansky has told TASR, adding that STU improved its ranking despite an increase in the number of universities assessed.
According to the QS World University Rankings 2027, which evaluated nearly 9,000 universities worldwide, STU was in the 951st-to-1,000th-place bracket. Meanwhile, nearly a hundred new universities were added to the rankings year-on-year. Last year, STU was ranked between 1,001st and 1,200th.
"We're very pleased to have made it into the top 1,000 universities in the world, but this doesn't mean that we're complacent; on the contrary, it encourages us to continue our work and keep moving forward. We don't view our ranking as an end in itself, but rather as an internal indicator for the university and an important reference point for potential students, faculty, researchers and STU partners. I believe that we can do even better," said STU rector Maximilian Stremy.
Within Slovakia, STU ranked highest in terms of reputation among academics, international research, sustainability and the university's reputation among employers. STU holds the top ranking in all of Slovakia for its reputation among employers.
The criteria used by the ranking to evaluate universities include the number of international students, the student-to-lecturer ratio, the university's reputation among the academic community, the university's reputation among employers, graduate employment outcomes, citations per faculty, the number of international faculty members per faculty, international research, and the university's level of sustainability.
