Bratislava, 19 June (TASR) - The Ruzinov tram line in Bratislava will be renovated, with preparatory work expected to begin as early as the end of this year, and construction on the first section of the line set to continue next year, TASR has been told by the capital city, which has completed its evaluation of bids in the tender for the contractor to carry out the modernisation. The winner of the tender is a consortium of companies consisting of Strabag, Eurovia SK, and ELZA - Electrical Assembly Plant Bratislava, which submitted a winning bid of €119 million. "As part of modernising the Ruzinov line, the entire tram line will be completely upgraded. This includes both the track bed and the track superstructure (with approximately 3.4 kilometres of track to be replaced), drainage, boarding islands and their equipment, overhead power lines, and the power supply system," stated the city. The modernisation of the Ruzinov line is being funded by the Slovakia Operational Programme. Looking ahead, the city plans to extend this route all the way to the airport. In recent years, Bratislava has completely renovated the line heading to the boroughs of Karlova Ves and Dubravka, repaired the Vajnory line, and built a new tram line in Petrzalka. am/df
