Expo 2027: 139 Countries Expected to Take Part; Slovakia First to Sign Contract

Bratislava, 19 June (TASR) - A total 139 countries are expected to participate in the World Expo 2027 in Belgrade, Serbia, 93 of which have already signed a contract with the organisers, with Slovakia being the first to do so, head of the communications department at Slovakia Travel Zuzana Eliasova told TASR. Slovak representatives attended the 178th General Assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) in Paris to discuss preparations for the world expos Expo 2027 in Belgrade and Expo 2030 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as the future direction of international expos. They also addressed technical coordination in connection with the upcoming expo. Slovakia's preparations for the World Expo 2027 are continuing in several areas. Following the presentation of the main theme of the national exhibition, "Slovakia - A Playground of Opportunities" and the slogan "Where Game Turns into Opportunity", an international architectural competition was launched to design the national pavilion. Since mid-May, registration has also been underway for Slovak companies wishing to participate in the World Expo 2027 programme. am
