Bratislava, 17 June (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini formally appointed five new ambassadors on Wednesday, including current MPs Peter Kmec (Voice-SD), who will be based in Rome and represent Slovakia in Italy, Malta and San Marino, and Miroslav Radacovsky (Independent), who will serve in Cyprus (based in Nicosia). Lubomir Rehak will serve as Slovak ambassador to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan (based in Astana), Jozef Hudec to Egypt, Sudan, Oman, Libya and Chad (based in Cairo), and Rastislav Krizan to Ethiopia and Djibouti (based in Addis Ababa). In his address to the newly appointed ambassadors, Pellegrini reminded them that they've taken on a massive responsibility. "It's the responsibility for representing our homeland and for promoting our national and state interests," he underlined. Pellegrini stressed that that no one is to judge their work based on what someone writes or based on what comments or status they publish, but solely based on performance evaluation decisions by the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Slovak government, as these are the only institutions authorised to assess whether their performance meets the expectations and demands placed upon them. "From now on, all your stances, all your steps and all your activities will simultaneously be the steps, stances and activities of the Slovak Republic. I trust that being aware of this will also help you to represent your country not only at a high professional level, but also with all due honour and healthy patriotism. I wish you a great deal of success in these demanding missions," added Pellegrini. jrg/df
