Stats Office: New Orders in Industry Down 6.6 percent Y-o-Y in April 2026

Bratislava, 16 June (TASR) - The value of new orders in Slovak industry declined by 6.6 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) to €5.58 billion in April 2026, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday, adding that the decline continued for the seventh consecutive month. March saw a more moderate y-o-y decline of 1 percent. After seasonal adjustment, new industrial orders in April fell by 2.8 percent compared to March 2026. Eight of the 12 monitored industrial sectors posted y-o-y decreases in volumes of orders in the fourth month of 2026. The overall development was most significantly affected by y-o-y drops in orders in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (down by 7.5 percent), in the production and processing of metals (12.8 percent), and in the production of computer, electronic and optical products (15.3 percent). Conversely, orders saw a y-o-y increase in the manufacture of machinery and equipment not classified elsewhere (up by 2.2 percent), in the manufacture of other transport equipment (9.6 percent) and in the production of wearing apparel (31 percent). ko
