House Chair Rasi Sees No Reason to Dismiss Dubeci at This Time

Bratislava, 15 June (TASR) - I currently see no reason to remove House Vice-chair Martin Dubeci (Progressive Slovakia/PS) from office, Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) told reporters in Parliament on Monday in response to their questions regarding statements by representatives of the coalition Smer-SD party, who have announced plans to draft a motion to dismiss Dubeci. "Dubeci is an MP like any other. He performs his duties as parliamentary vice-chair, as the other House vice-chairs do; he fulfils what Parliament and the laws require of him," he stated. According to Rasi, no one has discussed a possible no-confidence motion in Dubeci or the reasons for this with Voice-SD. "At this moment, until they provide some other information, evidence, or something, I really don't see any reason for his ouster," he added. Parliamentary Vice-chair Tibor Gaspar (Smer-SD) announced over the weekend that work is underway on a motion to remove Dubeci. He reported that the grounds are being prepared and that he intends to present them to the other parties in the coalition. am/df
