Schools in Bratislava Region Looking for Highest Number of Teaching Staff

Bratislava, 13 June (TASR) - According to the latest data, nearly 2,700 job openings for teachers have been posted so far this year on the Edujobs website, which focuses on jobs in education, labour market analyst at Alma Career Slovakia Martin Szabo has told TASR. Of these, nearly 1,200 vacancies are still active. Schools in Bratislava region are seeking the highest number of teaching staff, with their share of such job offers consistently above 40 percent. Trnava (13 percent) and Nitra regions (9 percent) follow far behind. Schools in Presov (5 percent) and Zilina (7 percent) regions are looking for the fewest teachers. In terms of subjects, maths teachers are the most in demand (14 percent), followed by English teachers (10 percent), physics teachers (5 percent), and Slovak language teachers (nearly 5 percent). When compared to 2025, the total number of jobs postings has decreased by approximately 13 percent, said Szabo. "The number of schools posting jobs ads has also dropped by 9 percent. Conversely, we can see that the number of responses has increased. While an average of 13 applicants responded to each job offer in 2025, this year the number has risen to 15," noted the analyst. am/df
