Stats: Revenues in Industry Down 5.3 percent Y-o-Y in April 2026

Bratislava, 12 June (TASR) - Revenues in industry, the key sector of the economy, fell by 5.3 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in April 2026 in fixed prices when adjusted for inflation, posting the fastest drop since the beginning of the year, the Statistics Office reported on Friday, adding that as many as 11 of the 16 monitored industrial branches saw y-o-y decreases in revenues. The most significant impact came from y-o-y drops in revenues in the production of means of transport (8 percent), the production of metals (10.4 percent), the manufacture of wooden products (17.5 percent) and the production of coke and oil products (20 percent). Conversely, more significant growth in revenues was maintained in electricity and gas supplies, as well as in the manufacture of machinery and equipment. Furthermore, revenues in transport and warehousing went up by 8.2 percent, while those in the construction sector increased by 6.4 percent. Revenues in the information and communications sector rose by 2.8 percent in April, the slowest growth seen after three months of double-digit increases, while revenues in selected market services posted a negligible increase, at 0.2 percent. In monthly terms, revenues (seasonally adjusted) fell in four of the five sectors monitored, in particular in the construction sector (4.8 percent), in the information and communications sector (3.2 percent), in selected market services (1.1 percent), and in industry (0.3 percent). Conversely, revenues in transport went up by 0.7 percent. In the first four months of 2026, revenues for own goods and services posted y-o-y increases in four of the five monitored sectors, with information and communications being the only sector to report double-digit growth in revenues, at 10.9 percent. Revenues in the construction sector increased by 7.6 percent, while revenues in transport and warehousing went up by 4 percent and those in selected market services by 2.7 percent.
