Kezmarok, 5 June (TASR) - The police have pressed charges of disorderly conduct against one person in connection with the physical assault on MP Jan Ferencak (Independent) in April, the Police Corps Presidium's communications department confirmed for TASR on Friday. It was TV JOJ that broke the news first, noting that according to Ferencak, the investigator's decision confirms his previous statements regarding the incident. An investigator from the anti-crime unit of the Office for Combating Organised Crime filed the charges on 29 May. "Given the ongoing criminal proceedings, it isn't currently possible to provide further information in order not to jeopardise the investigation," stated the police. Ferencak was physically assaulted on 25 April following a public event in Kezmarok (Presov region). The incident reportedly occurred in the presence of his daughter, during which the assailant struck him in the head. Presov region police later confirmed that a Kezmarok investigator had initiated criminal proceedings in the case for the misdemeanour of assaulting a public official and disorderly conduct. am/df
