Stats: Average Nominal Salary in Slovakia Up 6.1 percent to €1,611 in 1Q26

Bratislava, 2 June (TASR) - The average nominal monthly salary in Slovakia amounted to €1,611 in the first quarter of 2026, up by 6.1 percent year-on-year (y-o-y), the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday. Gross monthly incomes of employees thus increased by €93 on average. When considering inflation between January and March, real salaries rose by 2.2 percent. Both nominal and real salaries continued to grow for the tenth consecutive quarter. The seasonally adjusted average salary increased by 1.6 percent compared with the final quarter of 2025. When adjusted for inflation, real salaries grew in 13 of 19 monitored sectors. The strongest growth of 10.4 percent was posted in education. In the remaining sectors that posted positive results, real salary growth ranged from 0.8 percent in trade to 5.4 percent in agriculture and forestry. More rapid real-salary growth than the average for the entire Slovak economy was seen by employees engaged in eight sectors. Meanwhile, salaries in six sectors failed to keep pace with inflation, leading to a fall in real earnings. The most significant declines were reported in mining and quarrying (3.7 percent) and information and communication (3.4 percent). Real salary drops ranging from 0.7 percent to 2 percent were recorded in public administration, the real estate sector, administrative services and the energy sector. Industry and trade, which together employ more than one-third of all people employed in Slovakia, reported both nominal and real salary growth below the country-wide average. The average gross monthly salary in industry reached €1,721, up 6 percent y-o-y. However, it only grew by 2.2 percent in real terms. The average nominal salary in trade rose by 4.5 percent to €1,518. Real earnings growth in the sector amounted to 0.8 percent. The highest average monthly salary of over €3,000 was earned by employees engaged in financial and insurance services in the first quarter of 2026. The lowest earnings continued to be earned by employees in accommodation and catering services, where the average salary amounted to €963.
