Bratislava, 1 June (TASR) - President of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova arrived in Slovakia on Monday to meet her Slovak counterpart Peter Pellegrini, Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) and Vice-premier and Defence Minister Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD), TASR was told by the President's Office's communications department on Monday. The head of state will receive Siljanovska-Davkova at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava on Tuesday (2 June) as part of her official visit to the country. Together, they'll lay wreaths at the Gate of Freedom memorial in Bratislava's borough of Devin. The president of North Macedonia will also visit exhibitions at the Danubiana Museum and Gallery of Modern Art and at the National Enlightenment Centre. The North Macedonian president's visit follows up on a dialogue that Pellegrini initiated in her country's capital city of Skopje last October. The goal is to intensify bilateral relations, building on a memorandum of economic cooperation signed at that time. The visit should advance cooperation between the two countries toward tangible results, particularly in the areas of the economy, investment, energy, transport accessibility, development cooperation and the sharing of Slovakia's experience with the EU-integration process. "For Slovakia, her presence is an opportunity to confirm that we view North Macedonia as an ally in NATO and a partner whose European prospects we have long supported," stated the office. am/df
