MFA: Blanar to Pay Two-day Working Visit to Iceland

Bratislava, 1 June (TASR) - Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) will pay a working visit to Iceland on Tuesday (2 June) and Wednesday (3 June), the Foreign Affairs Ministry's communications department has informed TASR, adding that the aim is to strengthen political dialogue and bilateral relations, and to identify new opportunities for cooperation in areas of common interest. In Reykjavik, Blanar is scheduled to hold talks with his Icelandic counterpart Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir. Current European and international political issues, the security situation, the partnership within NATO, Iceland's relations with the European Union and opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation will be high on the agenda of the talks. During his visit to Iceland, the head of Slovak diplomacy will also meet Icelandic President Halla Tomasdottir and the Icelandic Parliament's foreign affairs committee head Pawel Bartoszek. As part of his working programme, Blanar is also due to meet David Tencer, the Slovak Roman Catholic Bishop of the Reykjavík Diocese, as well as representatives of the Slovak expatriate community in Iceland. ko/df
