Podbrezova: Drunk Driver Crashes into Apartment Block

Podbrezova/Bratislava, 31 May (TASR) - A car crashed into a local apartment block in the village of Podbrezova (Banska Bystrica region) on Friday (29 May), with the driver later testing above two per mille for alcohol, the Banska Bystrica police has reported on social media. A female passenger was taken to hospital with injuries. The accident occurred in the Kolkaren district of the village during the evening hours. "According to preliminary findings, the 27-year-old driver probably failed to adjust his speed to the road conditions and subsequently left the road and crashed into an apartment building," police said. Two other people were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident. A 68-year-old man suffered no injuries, while a 19-year-old female passenger was transported from the scene to the hospital in Brezno. The driver recorded more than two per mille of alcohol in a breath test after the crash, and his driving licence was confiscated at the scene. "In this case, criminal proceedings have been initiated and charges have simultaneously been brought for the offence of public endangerment under the influence," police added. mf
