Police Release All Eight People Detained as Part of Operation 'Overlord'

Nitra, 29 May (TASR) - All individuals detained in connection with the 'Overlord' police operation have been released after the necessary procedural steps were completed, TASR was told by Nitra police spokesperson Tomas Havetta on Friday.
As part of the operation, five house raids and two searches of non-residential premises were conducted in Kosice region on Thursday, 28 May. A total of eight people were detained.
In addition to Nitra police officers, other regional police directorates, the National Headquarters for Special Types of Crime, and the Forensic Science Office provided assistance.
Criminal proceedings regarding the suspicion of economic crimes are being conducted by an investigator from the Nitra Criminal Police Department. "Evidence-gathering will continue in this case, but it isn't possible to provide further details at this stage of the criminal proceedings," stated Havetta.
The police won't comment at this time on the identities of the individuals who were detained and later released, nor on other circumstances of the case. However, with reference to information that has appeared in the media, Havetta emphasised that the case under investigation has no connection to FC Kosice football club.
