Bratislava, 28 May (TASR) - Three new regular air routes will be launched from M.R. Stefanik Airport in Bratislava this week, Bratislava airport spokesperson Veronika Demovicova has told TASR.
Wizz Air launched flights to Tel Aviv on Thursday. It will start serving a new destination, the Greek island of Mykonos in a few days, and it began flights to Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, a week ago.
Wizz Air will operate flights from Bratislava to and from Tel Aviv three times a week as of 28 May: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. As of the end of May, Israeli tourists will again be able to fly to Bratislava with Arkia Israeli Airlines, which operates charter flights for clients arranged by an Israeli travel agency.
"We expect that the direct flights from Tel Aviv will be a strong incoming route, bringing many visitors from Israel to Bratislava region. We can already see this in the very high occupancy rates for the first planned flights," said Daniel Kulla of Bratislava airport's trade department.
When the situation in the Middle East region calms down, the airport also expects growing interest among tourists to travel from Bratislava to Israel.
The first summer month, June, will bring another new holiday destination. On 8 June, the first flights will take place from Bratislava to the Greek island of Mykonos, known for its blue-and-white houses and windmills. "As the Greek islands will be among the most popular summer season destinations this year, it will be possible to fly to Mykonos from Bratislava until the end of the summer season every Friday and Monday until October 23," said Demovicova.
Just a week ago, Wizz Air launched new regular flights from Bratislava airport to Podgorica. "Three flights per week are ideal for a prolonged weekend or a week-long summer holiday in Montenegro," said Demovicova, adding that flights will be available throughout the summer season until 24 October 2026.
All these new flights from Bratislava will be served by Wizz Air using Airbus A321neo aircraft with a capacity of 239 passengers.
