Bratislava, 27 May (TASR) - The Foreign Affairs Ministry is not aware of any official information regarding the evacuation and closure of embassies in Kyiv, and it is actively monitoring the security situation in Ukraine, TASR was told by the ministry's communications department on Wednesday in response to opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) vice-chair Ivan Korcok's statements about Russia's warning of large-scale strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
The ministry reminds the public that a Level 4 travel advisory remains in place for Slovak nationals, urging them to leave Ukraine immediately and avoid travelling to the country.
"As of today, we do not possess any officially confirmed information regarding the evacuation and closure of the embassies of other countries in Kyiv," stated the foreign ministry.
The ministry assured that it has been actively monitoring and evaluating the security situation in Ukraine in close coordination with both Slovak and Ukrainian security forces. At the same time, it is in contact with both Slovak diplomatic missions in Ukraine, as well as with the diplomatic missions of other countries there.
The ministry rejects any comments made by Korcok and says it is acting professionally with a view to ensuring safety.
"Given the ongoing military activities in Ukraine, we keep crisis measures on constant standby, ready to activate them swiftly and appropriately as required on the basis of assessing the risks, in order to ensure the highest possible level of safety for our diplomats," stressed the ministry.
Korcok said he had been informed by foreign partners about Russia's warning of major attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, saying that "the Russians quite openly announced that they will target decision-making centres and called on foreigners to leave Kyiv".
"The attacks are expected to be of a scale not witnessed since the outset of the aggression," added Korcok.
