Haniska/Bratislava, 27 May (TASR) - The launch of the new Volvo car plant near Kosice is progressing in line with the plan, with both Slovakia and the company meeting all the deadlines, said Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) before the government's away-from-home session held in the eastern-Slovak village of Haniska (Kosice region) on Wednesday.
Sakova noted that 600 of the planned 3,300 employees are already working at the company. The firm has promised an average salary of over €1,400 per month, which is more than the average in the region.
"Volvo has also been dealing with whether it will have enough employees. It's been gradually managing to meet this goal so far, and I hope that it will fill its 3,300-strong workforce with high-quality people, above all with people who will largely be Slovak citizens," said the minister. She described Volvo as "the biggest investment in eastern Slovakia and in the era of the independent Slovakia", noting that government representatives will visit the plant in person later on Wednesday.
